Mobile’s Largest Mardi Gras Parade Ready to Roll

MOBILE, Ala. – The streets of Mobile will explode with excitement on Tuesday December 20, during the 7th annual GMAC Bowl Parade, Street party and Fireworks show! The festivities begin with the Greer’s Food Tiger GMAC Bowl Mardi Gras Parade. The parade starts rolling at 6:30 PM, and will follow a modified Route A. Mobile’s largest Mardi Gras parade will feature 22 floats from various mystic societies, NASCAR Driver Brian Vickers #25 GMAC Financial Services Chevrolet car, as well as high school and collegiate marching bands.

This year’s Grand Marshall will be former Alabama Congressman Sonny Callahan. Special guests include San Diego Padres star pitcher Jake Peavey, and Philadelphia Philly ace Jon Lieber. Other dignitaries parading include, Mayor Sam Jones, Mid-American Conference Commissioner Rick Chryst, Associate Commissioner of Conference USA Alfred White, GMAC Chairman Eric Feldstein, City Council Members, and County Commissioners.

Following the parade, all of Mobile is invited to attend the Spectronics fireworks show and pep rally at The Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center. The University of Toledo and University of Texas at El Paso marching bands will rally their troops prior the fireworks extravaganza. The fireworks show will begin at 8:00 PM followed by the R&B Group the Tip Tops. Shuttle service will be available at $5.00 per person.

Shuttles will run from 2:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. picking up every 30 minutes. Shuttle stops will include: Beltline Hotels (Ashbury Suites, Fairfield Inn, Residence Inn, Courtyard Inn) the Mobile Marriott on Bel Air Blvd, as well as Bay Bears Stadium.
