Spanish Fort, St. Lukes, Satsuma, McGill Toolen and Baker Win Third Annual Cheerleading Competition

(MOBILE, Ala.)-The GMAC Bowl, along with title sponsors Spectronics, Inc. and Cheer 21, held its third annual cheerleading competition for junior high, junior varsity and varsity high school squads along the Gulf Coast.

The competition was held on Saturday, October 4, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Mobile Convention Center. Squads competed in non-building and building categories.

In addition to trophies, free uniforms and several other prizes, the first place teams will be performing at the Tenth Annual GMAC Bowl.

Although competition is a popular aspect of cheerleading, many squads do not participate as often as they would like due to the expense of the competitions. “From the beginning, we wanted all squads interested in competing to be able to. Thanks to our sponsors, they are able to participate in a quality competition for free,” said GMAC Bowl President, Jerry Silverstein.

Sponsors of the third annual Spectronics, Inc./Cheer 21 Cheerleading Competition presented by the GMAC Bowl include the Alabama Army National Guard, Bay Bank, Blue Dolphin Design, Cellular South, Coca Cola, Midtown Mortgage, Party Supply Unlimited, and Sign*A*Rama.
