2015 GoDaddy Bowl Matchup Set!

Mobile, Ala (Dec. 7, 2014) – The GoDaddy Bowl announced today that the University of Toledo (8-4, 7-1) with the Mid-American Conference has accepted an invitation to play in the 2015 GoDaddy Bowl against the Sun Belt Conference representative, Arkansas State University. The 16th annual GoDaddy Bowl will be played on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium and televised nationally at 8:00 pm on ESPN.

The Rockets are led by head coach Matt Campbell, who, at age 34, is one of the youngest head coaches in the FBS. In his three seasons as head coach, Campbell has posted an 18-6 conference record.

11 Rockets earned All Mid-American Conference honors, including senior center Greg Mancz, a three-time All-MAC player and the 2014 Vern Smith Leadership Award recipient. Sophomore running back Kareem Hunt and senior linebacker Junior Sylvestre also earned first-team honors. Hunt has rushed for 1,360 yards and leads the MAC with 151.1 yards per game. Sylvestre leads the Rockets with 94 tackles.

“We are thrilled to welcome back the University of Toledo. The Rocket family overwhelmed the city of Mobile the last time they were here in 2005 and we anticipate another great showing from Toledo both on and off the field,” said GoDaddy Bowl President Jerry Silverstein.

“The University of Toledo is honored to be heading back to Mobile for this first class experience. Having been here before, the UT family knows the bowl has something for everyone, from the Mayor’s Luncheon to the Mardi Gras Parade,” said University of Toledo Athletic Director Mike O’Brien. “We are excited for this opportunity and are looking forward to a competitive match-up against Arkansas State.”

The Toledo Rockets come back to Mobile for the second time. In 2005, Bruce Gradkowski led the Rockets to a 45-13 victory over UTEP in the then GMAC Bowl.

Teams are slated to arrive in Mobile on Wednesday, Dec. 31, and the GoDaddy Bowl will feature a week of activities with appearances by former NFL MVP quarterback Joe Theismann and NASCAR star Danica Patrick.
Joe Theismann will speak at the GoDaddy Bowl Mayor’s Luncheon on Friday, Jan. 2 at the Mobile Convention Center. Tickets for
the luncheon are on sale now, $30 per person or $300 for a table of ten.

On Saturday, Jan. 3, Danica Patrick will be the Grand Marshal for the Greer’s/AL.com Mardi Gras Parade, which begins at 6:30 p.m. in Downtown Mobile. On game day, Patrick will toss the official game coin prior to kickoff and present the winning team with the 2015 GoDaddy Bowl trophy after the game.
