Arkansas State Accepts Fourth Consecutive GoDaddy Bowl Invitation

Mobile, Ala. (Dec. 3, 2014) – The GoDaddy Bowl announced today that Arkansas State University (7-5, 5-3) with the Sun Belt Conference has accepted an invitation to play a team from the Mid-American Conference in the 16th annual GoDaddy Bowl game on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:00 pm CST and the game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Arkansas State celebrated their 100th season of football this year and head coach Blake Anderson has led the team to some great accomplishments. The Red Wolves posted 764 total offensive yards in the 68-35 win over New Mexico State, breaking the Sun Belt Conference record for total offensive yards in a game. Defensively, they are leading the conference in interceptions with 15.

The Red Wolves come back to the GoDaddy Bowl for the fourth consecutive time, posting a 2-1 record. In 2012, Northern Illinois defeated Arkansas State 38-20. In 2013, the Red Wolves defeated Kent State 17-13. In the January 2014 game, Arkansas State defeated Ball State 23-20.

“Over the past few years, the Arkansas State fans have made the City of Mobile their home away from home and we are excited to once again be hosting them for a recording breaking fourth year,” said GoDaddy Bowl President, Jerry Silverstein. ” Last year’s win over Ball State with a blocked field goal in the final seconds of regulation, made for a thrilling game for football fans everywhere.”

Teams are slated to arrive in Mobile on Wednesday, Dec. 31. As usual, the GoDaddy Bowl will feature a week of activities before the game itself.The GoDaddy Bowl Mayor’s Luncheon will feature former NFL quarterback and College Football Hall of Famer Joe Theismann as the guest speaker on Friday, Jan. 2. The Greer’s/AL.com Mardi Gras Parade, AL.com Pep Rally, Spectronics Fireworks Show and the AL.com Street Party are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 3.
