GoDaddy Bowl Tees Off For Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament
Mobile, Ala. (May 26, 2015) – The GoDaddy Bowl announced today the 17th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament will be held Tuesday, June 2 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove. Shotgun start is at 8:00 am.
This annual event kicks off the year for the GoDaddy Bowl with over 300 golfers and brings sports celebrities, Mid-American Conference and Sun Belt Conference officials, athletic directors and coaches, and fans from all over the country to the area for this charity golf tournament. The tournament’s main charity is Mike and Mickey Gottfried’s Team Focus, a year-round mentoring organization for young men without father figures in their lives.
Some celebrity golfers include former Florida State head football coach Bobby Bowden, former Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lieber, former University of Alabama and NFL standout Bobby Humphrey and Auburn University’s Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Dave Didion. Also playing are Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Karl Benson, Mid-American Conference Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher, Georgia Southern head football coach Willie Fritz and Troy University head football coach Neil Brown.
Several members of the 1992 University of Alabama National Championship team, including Chris Edwards, Pierre Goode, Antonio Langham, Roosevelt Patterson, Andre Royal, Sherman Williams and Prince Wimbley will golf in the tournament as well.
The GoDaddy Bowl Pairings Party will be held the night before the golf tournament, Monday, June 1 at the Mobile Marriott and begins at 6:00 pm.
