Troy University Head Football Coach Neal Brown To Speak At 1st & 10 Club

Mobile, Ala., (Sept. 20, 2015) – Neal Brown, Troy University Head Football Coach will speak at the New Horizons Credit Union 1st & 10 Club on Monday, Sept. 21 at the Mobile Marriott in Mobile, AL beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Brown is entering his first year as head coach at Troy, but is very familiar with the program. He spent four seasons at Troy (2006-2009) where he helped the Trojans to four Sun Belt titles and three bowl game appearances. Brown’s 2009 offense finished third in the nation in total offense with 485.7 yards per game and fourth in passing with 336.5 yards per game. In 2008, Troy’s fast-paced offense set 10 school records.

Brown most recently served as the offensive coordinator at Kentucky where he helped the Wildcats post over 440 yards of total offense in three Southeastern Conference games in 2014, its highest total since 2001. During his tenure, the Wildcats averaged 11.3 points and 69.3 yards of total offense more per game. The 11.3 points per game increase was the fourth highest in the country over the same time period.

After Brown’s first stint at Troy, he joined Tommy Tuberville’s staff at Texas Tech. As offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, the Red Raiders ranked in the nation’s top-seven teams in passing offense, top-15 in total offense and top-25 in scoring offense. In 2012, the Red Raiders ranked 13th nationally in total offense with 470.6 yards per game.

Brown played at Kentucky from 1998-2000 and was a two-year letterman, catching 10 passes, including one touchdown. He was a member of the Outback Bowl and Music City Bowl teams and earned a place on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Brown then transferred to Massachusetts for two seasons. He totaled 58 receptions for 721 yards and four touchdowns while being named to the Atlantic-10 All-Academic Team and the NCAA Division I-AA Athletic Directors’ Academic All-Star Team. There he earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and his master’s in business administration.

He and his wife, Brooke, have two daughters, and one son.
