C Spire 1st & 10 Club kicks off 18th season with top-flight speakers
Mobile, Ala. – (Aug. 26, 2016) College football is just around the corner and that means the venerable 1st and 10 Club is getting ready to kick off its 18th season with C Spire as the title sponsor.
The C Spire 1st and 10 Club has an exciting line up of speakers scheduled for this fall led by Auburn University head basketball coach Bruce Pearl, who will appear at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12 for the meeting at the Mobile Marriott.
The speakers this year also include Todd McShay (ESPN), Frank Beamer (former Virginia Tech head football coach), Tim Brando (FOX Sports), Holly Rowe (ESPN), Jeremy Pruitt (Alabama Defensive Coordinator), Joey Jones (South Alabama head football coach), Zubin Mehenti (ESPN), Chris McKendry (ESPN), Matt Barrie (SportsCenter) and the head football coaches for the 2016 Dollar General Bowl game.
“Fans around here are passionate about football and we’re excited to be involved and support an organization that is delivering quality sports and entertainment programming in this region,” said Jim Richmond, vice president of Corporate Communications for the Mississippi-based diversified telecommunications and technology services company.
The C Spire 1st & 10 Club, along with Powerade, will present weekly Scholar of the Week awards for two academic students. Two outstanding high school student-athletes also are honored each week. The students are selected from high schools in Mobile and Baldwin counties for their outstanding performance on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
Academic award winners are eligible for one of several scholarships offered by the Dollar General Bowl and Chick-fil-a. The scholarships will be awarded at the Dollar General Bowl Mayor’s luncheon on Dec. 22, 2016.
