SportCenter’s Matt Barrie to Speak at C Spire 1st & 10 Club
Mobile, Alabama (September 23, 2016) – Matt Barrie, SportCenter Anchor, will be the featured guest speaker at the C Spire 1st & 10 Club on Monday, September 26 at, beginning at 5:30 pm.
Barrie is a current SportsCenter anchor and hosts a variety of programs, including SportCenter on the Road. In 2014, Barrie began hosting College GameDay on ESPN Radio with Trevor Matich and Brad Edwards. Barrie began his career at ESPN in 2013 as a studio host for Highlight Express on ESPNEWS.
Before making his way to ESPN, Barrie was an anchor/reporter for KXAS, NBC 5 in Dallas, TX from 2008 to 2013. At KXAS he hosted weekend sportscasts and anchored live coverage of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Mavericks.
In 2010 Barrie was recognized with the RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Award, five Lonestar Emmy Awards, and the “Salute to Excellence” NABJ Award.
From 2005 to 2008, Barrie served as anchor/reporter for WLTX-TV and co-hosted the Matt and Tim Show on 1400-AM “The Team,” the highest-rated radio show in the Columbia market. For WLTX he anchored Friday through Monday sportscasts, hosted the weekly Saturday Night Blitz and Gamecock Extra college football shows, and provided live coverage from the Independence Bowl (2005) and Liberty Bowl (2006).
Between 2003 and 2005, Barrie worked for KSWO-TV in Lawton, Oklahoma where he provided live coverage for the Big 12 Championship (2003) and BCS National Championship (2004) games.
Barrie began his career at WJFW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin in 2001 (2001-02), where he was the station’s primary Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers reporter.
A native of Scottsdale, Arizona and graduated from Arizona State University in 2001 with a B.A. in broadcast journalism from ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism.
Barrie currently resides in West Hartford, Connecticut with his wife Ashley.
