TWO-TIME SUPER BOWL CHAMPION AND SPORTS BROADCASTER MARK MAY TO SPEAK AT C SPIRE 1ST & 10 CLUB
Mobile, Ala. (Nov. 2018) – Two-time Super Bowl champion and sports broadcaster Mark May will speak at the C Spire 1st & 10 Club on Monday, Nov. 5 2018 at the Mobile Marriot beginning at 5:30p.m.
May, 58, spent 23 years in broadcasting. May most recently served as an analyst on ESPN for 16 years hosting shows that included College Football Final, College Football Scoreboard and College Football Live. He served as an analyst with TNT on Sunday Night Football broadcasts before joining CBS Sports as a game analyst for the NFL.
May, a 13-year NFL veteran and two-time Super Bowl champion, began his pro football career after he was drafted 20th overall by the Washington Redskins in the 1981 NFL Draft. He played 10 seasons in Washington and helped guide the Redskins to two Super Bowl victories in Super Bowls XVII and XXII. May was selected to the Pro Bowl during the 1988 season.
After his tenure with the Redskins, May signed with the San Diego Chargers during the 1991 season. May played for two more seasons with the Phoenix Cardinals before retiring in 1993. During his NFL career May played in 159 games and started in 142 games. May was later named one of the 80 greatest Redskins of all time.
Prior to his NFL career, May played college football for Jackie Sherrill at the University of Pittsburgh from 1977-1980. He helped guide the team to a 39-8-1 record over a four-year period. One of the most decorated offensive linemen in Pittsburgh history, May was named a unanimous first team All-American selection in 1980 and was awarded the Outland Trophy as college football’s best interior lineman that same year.
In 2001, the University of Pittsburgh retired May’s jersey number (73). He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
May, a New York native, and his wife Kathy are the proud parents of two daughters, Abra and Bryce.
