“GIVE A FOOTBALL” PRESENTATION BY THE MOBILE ALABAMA BOWL IN HONOR OF CFB150
Mobile Ala (November 6, 2019) On Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. the Mobile Alabama Bowl participated in the College Football 150 “Give a Football” campaign. The Bowl presented their football to Mobile Christian’s, Gabrielle Lett.
2019 marks a significant milestone in the history of college football. On November 6, 1869, the first contest between Princeton and Rutgers was played and the affinity for this great game began.
The “Give a Football” special presentation in celebration of the 150th Anniversary by the Mobile Alabama Bowl took place at a special assembly held this morning at Mobile Christian School. The Bowl presented a 150th anniversary commemorative football to Miss Gabrielle “Gabby” Lett.
Gabby has been battling Leukemia over the last year and in September 2019 “rung the bell” on her last treatment. Through this long process she has shown the same fighting spirit and courage we all know and love about the game of College Football.
Football is a big part of the Lett family’s life, as Gabby is a cheerleader at Mobile Christian for the youth development 3rd & 4th grade team, and her big brother, Letrelle Lett, is a varsity team member.
The Bowl will invite Gabby to take part in Mobile Alabama Bowl’s week of events leading up to the game on Monday, January 6th. Gabby and her family are invited to ride as honored guests in the Greer’s/This is Alabama Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday, January 4th 2020. She is also invited to cheer on the sideline with one of the participating Bowl team’s cheerleading squads during the game itself.
The “Give a Football” campaign was created with intentions of spreading the college football spirit to children between the ages of 7-13 in various communities nationwide. In addition, each Bowl is challenging three people to also give a football to a youth in their community. The Mobile Alabama Bowl has challenged Mayor Sandy Stimpson, Mid-American Conference Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher and Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Keith Gill.
