THE 68 VENTURES BOWL GOES BIG FOR TEACHERS AND THE COMMUNITY THROUGH SEVERAL OLD AND NEW PROGRAMS THIS SEASON

Mobile, Ala. (September 18, 2024) – The 68 Ventures Bowl joined the college football family in going BIG to support teachers during the Extra Yard for Teachers Week, September 14th through September 21st. Organized by the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation, the Extra Yard for Teachers Week supports and celebrates teachers, by saying “thank you” in many ways to amazing educators dedicated to helping our kids learn.

For their part, the 68 Ventures Bowl surprised Mrs. Mischa Armstrong from Baker High School with funding for her classroom. 68 Ventures Bowl is going big for teaching by presenting Mrs. Armstrong with a $1,000 grant to select necessary resources to enrich the learning environment at Baker High School. Mrs. Armstrong, a 16-year teaching veteran, teaches algebra and precalculus. She serves as the A+ College Ready Individual Training and Incentive Program (ITIP) teacher. ITIP is a program that fosters success in Advance Placement coursework for teachers and students. Mrs. Armstrong promotes programs and practices that ensure students have an equal opportunity to thrive.

In addition to the grant for Mrs. Armstrong, the 68 Ventures Bowl announced today they will be honoring a minimum of 10 more teachers with $1,000 each through Touchdown for Teachers at the 2024 68 Ventures Bowl Game for a minimum of $11,000 in education grants this year. Nomination for these grants opened today on the 68 Ventures Bowl Website at www.68venturesbowl.com.  The deadline to nominate is Friday, December 1st.

“Nominate a Teacher” is just one of many education programs the Bowl runs annually. The 68 Ventures Bowl’s Scholarship Program presented by the 1st & 10 Club announced earlier this year the addition of two new scholarships. Deadline for scholarship applications is Monday, September 30th. The Bowl’s annual art competition is open to all art students sixth through twelfth grades in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Entries for the art competition can be submitted through October 23, 2024.

Awards for all three programs will be presented at the annual Community Awards Banquet November 18th.
