AUBURN UNIVERSITY HEAD COACH HUGH FREEZE TO SPEAK AT 1st & 10 CLUB

Mobile, Ala. – (Oct. 4, 2024)  Hugh Freeze, Auburn University Head Coach, will speak at the 1st & 10 Club on Monday, Oct. 7 at Moe’s Original BBQ Downtown at 5:30 p.m. In addition, the club announced today their honorees for this month’s high school athletic awards:

Offensive player of the Month- Kolin Wilson – Gulf Shores High School
Defensive Player of the Month- Antonio Coleman –  Saraland High School
Special Teams Player of the Month- Blayne Munson – Baker High School
Lineman of the Month- Bo Cagle – Mobile Christian

2022-Present, The Auburn Tigers are approaching the midway point of Head Coach Hugh Freeze’s second season. This Saturday, the team will face its most significant challenge to date as they travel to Athens, Georgia, to compete against the fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs. The Tigers Offense has averaged 466 yards per game with a total of 16 passing and 6 rushing touchdowns. In his inaugural year, Coach Freeze successfully guided the Tigers back to postseason play, culminating in an appearance at the Music City Bowl.

The head coach at Liberty from 2019-22, Freeze led the Flames to four bowl games and a 34-15 record. In 2020, Freeze guided Liberty to a 10-1 overall record and the team’s first-ever national ranking as it finished No. 17 in the country. For his efforts, Freeze was a finalist for the George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year Award that season.

From 2012-2016, while the head coach at Ole Miss, Freeze led them back to championship form guiding them to bowl games three of his five years. In 2015, Ole Miss finished in the top 10 national rankings with a record of 10-3 (6-2 SEC) including a 43-37 road victory over No. 2 Alabama. Ole Miss was ranked in the top 25 for 45 weeks over his five-year tenure.

In 2011, as head coach at Arkansas State, the Red Wolves captured the Sun Belt Conference championship with a 10-2 overall record. It marked the program’s first 10-win season since 1986 and the best debut season ever by an A-State head coach. Freeze was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year.

From 1995-2004, Freeze was at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis as a teacher, coach and administrator. His overall record was 99-23, which included an undefeated season in 1996, winning six straight state championship games, and being named coach of the AP Coach of the Year four times.

Freeze has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in mathematics with a minor in coaching and sports administration.

Born in Oxford and raised in Independence, Mississippi, Hugh, and his wife, Jill, are the parents of three daughters: Ragan, Jordan and Madison.
