
GRAND BAY MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT WINS 99th ANNUAL MOBILE COUNTY SPELLING BEE
Mobile, Ala. (February 6, 2025) – The 99th Annual Mobile County Spelling Bee presented by the 68 Ventures Bowl and the Mobile County Public School System was held this morning, Friday, Feb. 6th, at the Mary G. Montgomery High School Auditorium. 52 elementary and middle school students from public, private, and parochial schools competed in the contest.
Carson Floyd from Grand Bay Middle School spelled “Norovirus” to claim the title of this year’s spelling bee. Baileigh Mosley Stokes from Council Traditional School placed second, and Aaryan Sharma from Denton Magnet School of Technology placed third. These three contestants made it through 180 words in 17 rounds to win today’s Spelling Bee. Carson will advance to the state spelling bee in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, March 21st at the UAB College of Arts and Sciences University Hall Auditorium. The winner of the Alabama State Spelling Bee will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
