26TH 68 VENTURES BOWL MATCHUP SET WITH ARKANSAS STATE AND BOWLING GREEN

MOBILE, Ala. – The 26th 68 Ventures Bowl will feature a matchup of Arkansas State University and Bowling Green State University following an announcement by the bowl committee on Sunday.

The Red Wolves and Falcons will meet at Hancock Whitney Stadium on Thursday, Dec. 26 at 8:00 p.m. CST. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Ticket prices start at $15 with a total of six different pricing locations throughout the stadium available for purchase. Tickets and parking are available at 68VenturesBowl.com.

“We are thrilled to welcome back both Arkansas State and Bowling Green State Universities to the city of Mobile in what promises to be an action-packed matchup between these two opponents,” said 68 Ventures Bowl President Jerry Silverstein.

Arkansas State went 7-5 in the regular season and 5-3 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Red Wolves won four of their final six games to secure their second-consecutive bowl appearance. A-State is currently one of just three programs in the country to increase its win total each year since 2022

This will be A-State’s fifth appearance in the 68 Ventures Bowl and 19th overall. The program went 2-2 while playing in four-straight GoDaddy Bowls from January 2012-15.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to play in the 68 Ventures Bowl, a well-respected bowl game with an outstanding reputation for providing a great experience for teams and fans alike,” said A-State Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Jeff Purinton. “The city of Mobile is well-known for its hospitality, and president Jerry Silverstein and the bowl-game staff do a tremendous job with this event. We look forward to seeing our team take the field again to play in a postseason game for the second straight year.”

“We look forward to continuing our season with a bowl game for the second consecutive year,” said A-State head football coach Butch Jones. “The 68 Ventures Bowl offers an excellent experience for our players and provides a great bowl destination for our team and fans. We’re excited about the opportunity to play for an eighth win and to finish the season strong against a very good opponent.”

BGSU also went 7-5 in 2024, tying for third in the Mid-American Conference at 6-2. The Falcons won five-consecutive games late in the season and played both Penn State and Texas A&M to one-score contests during the year.

The Falcons are in the postseason for the 16th time, including their third-straight year. This will be their fourth appearance in Mobile after competing in the 2004, 2007 and 2015 games, going 1-2.

“BGSU is honored to be selected to participate in the 68 Ventures Bowl in Mobile, Ala., and to have the opportunity to play Arkansas State University,” said BGSU Director of Athletics Derek van der Merwe. “Having participated in the bowl before, I have personally experienced how the leadership of this bowl and the entire Mobile community rallies around this event and invests in the team, band and fan experience. I encourage our Falcon family around the country to make the trip to Alabama on December 26 to participate in this exciting bowl.”

“Our players and staff could not be more excited to play in the 68 Ventures Bowl,” said Bowling Green head coach Scot Loeffler. “Our team has earned the opportunity to compete for an eighth win, and we will get the chance to do so against a strong Arkansas State team that experienced a journey similar to ours this season. It will be a competitive clash between two great conferences in prime time the day after Christmas. We look forward to our great BGSU fans cheering us on one more time in 2024. Go Falcons!”

This will be the second all-time meeting on the gridiron between the two schools. In 1974, BGSU defeated A-State, 17-0, in Bowling Green, Ohio.
