CAUSEY MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT WINS 98th ANNUAL MOBILE COUNTY SPELLING BEE

Mobile, Ala. (February 7, 2025) – The 98th Annual Mobile County Spelling Bee presented by the 68 Ventures Bowl and the Mobile County Public School System was held this morning, Friday, Feb. 7th, at the Mary G. Montgomery High School Auditorium. 46 elementary and middle school students from public, private, and parochial schools competed in the contest.

Tamara Altaan from Causey Middle School spelled “Untenable” to claim the title of this year’s spelling bee. Annalee Towler from Davis Elementary School placed second, and Kyler Johnson from Austin Elementary School placed third.  These three contestants made it through 141 words in 10 rounds to win today’s Spelling Bee. Altaan will advance to the state spelling bee in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, March 22nd at the UAB College of Arts and Sciences’ University Hall Auditorium. The winner of the Alabama State Spelling Bee will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
