68 VENTURES BOWL INAUGURAL VARSITY FLAG FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
Mobile, Ala. (May 12, 2026) – The 68 Ventures Bowl is proud to announce its inaugural Varsity Flag Football Tournament, providing an exciting new competitive opportunity for high school programs across Mobile and Baldwin counties. Participation will be complimentary for varsity teams, with the tournament scheduled to take place this July at the Mobile County Sportsplex.
The inaugural event is being organized in partnership with Mobile County Public School System as part of a continued effort to support and grow girls’ flag football throughout the Gulf Coast region. While MCPSS schools will be invited to participate in the tournament, the event is open to all varsity flag football programs across Mobile and Baldwin counties, including public and private schools.
“Our commitment has always been bigger than a single game or event. It’s about using football to create opportunities and meaningful experiences within our community, and this tournament is a reflection of that mission.” Said 68 Ventures Bowl, President Jerry Silverstein.
Tournament details are currently being finalized, with the event expected to feature a one-to-two-day round-robin format. Each participating team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games, with bracket winners advancing to the championship round. Championship teams will be recognized on the field during the 28th Annual 68 Ventures Bowl, which will be played this December at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
“We’re proud to provide a stage for these young women to compete and continue growing the game in our region.” said, Sherrie Dyal, Executive Director, 68 Ventures Bowl.
The growth of flag football continues to accelerate nationwide, and the Mobile area has experienced significant expansion in recent years. More than 20 varsity flag football programs are currently active across Mobile and Baldwin counties, with additional schools exploring opportunities to join. Notably, all 12 Mobile County public high schools now field varsity flag football teams.
Teams interested in participating in the inaugural tournament are encouraged to contact the Bowl Office or visit 68 Ventures Bowl for more information.
This year, the 68 Ventures Bowl celebrates its 28th year. The game date will be announced at a later time, with the game set to take place in December 2026 and televised nationally on ESPN. Played at Hancock Whitney Stadium, the game will feature top-selected teams from the Sun Belt Conference and either the Conference USA or Mid-American Conference.
