INAUGURAL 68 VENTURES BOWL FLAG FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT SHOWCASES TALENT, COMPETITION AND THE CONTINUED GROWTH OF GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL
MOBILE, Ala (June 28, 2026) – On Tuesday, July 28, the 68 Ventures Bowl welcomed more than 130 student-athletes from Mobile and Baldwin counties for the inaugural 68 Ventures Bowl Flag Football Tournament, bringing together 10 teams from nine high schools for a full day of competition, teamwork and community while celebrating one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.
Participating schools included Alma Bryant High School, B.C. Rain High School, Baldwin County High School, Citronelle High School, LeFlore High School, Mary G. Montgomery High School, McGill-Toolen Catholic High School (which fielded two teams), St. Michael Catholic High School, and Vigor High School.
Each team competed in three preliminary-round games before advancing to championship bracket play. The opening rounds featured competitive matchups throughout the day, with Mary G. Montgomery and St. Michael Catholic each finishing preliminary play undefeated at 3-0. Alma Bryant and McGill-Toolen also posted strong performances, setting up an exciting championship bracket that ultimately came down to point differential.
The semifinal round delivered two outstanding matchups. St. Michael Catholic and Alma Bryant battled through one of the tournament’s most exciting games, with St. Michael advancing in a 12-6 overtime thriller. On the opposite field, McGill-Toolen secured its place in the championship game with a victory over Mary G. Montgomery.
Unfortunately, severe weather forced the championship game between St. Michael Catholic High School and McGill-Toolen Catholic High School to be canceled before it could be played. After discussions between tournament officials and both teams, St. Michael Catholic and McGill-Toolen were named co-champions of the inaugural 68 Ventures Bowl Flag Football Tournament. Alma Bryant finished third overall, while Mary G. Montgomery placed fourth.
Throughout the day, the tournament showcased the skill, athleticism and competitiveness of girls flag football across the Gulf Coast. Several games were decided by a single possession, and with semifinal seeding determined by point differential, every point scored during pool play mattered. From dominant defensive performances to an overtime semifinal, the inaugural tournament demonstrated the excitement and continued growth of girls flag football before severe weather brought the day to an early close.
The inaugural tournament reflects the 68 Ventures Bowl’s year-round commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for local student-athletes while supporting the continued growth of football throughout the Gulf Coast. Beyond the annual bowl game, the organization remains focused on investing in programs and events that positively impact schools, athletes and the communities they represent.
The 68 Ventures Bowl partnered with AFC Mobile and Mobile County Public Schools to host the event, providing a first-class championship experience for participating teams. The Bowl also thanks Anchor Logistics, whose support helped bring the tournament vision to life through event branding and signage, and Coca-Cola, the tournament’s official beverage sponsor, for helping keep athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers refreshed throughout the day.
