16th Annual GoDaddy Bowl Set
MOBILE, AL. (June 8, 2014) – GoDaddy Bowl officials announced today that the 16th annual GoDaddy Bowl will be held at Ladd Peebles Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 at 8 p.m. (CT) and will be televised nationally on ESPN.
The game pits top-selected teams from the Sun Belt Conference and the Mid-American Conference.
“Currently there are 50 players in the NFL who have played in our bowl game with an additional six who were drafted last month – three of which played in our game last year – and around 15 more who have signed as free-agents. We are proud to bring this caliber of college football to Mobile every year and appreciate all the support,” said Jerry Silverstein, GoDaddy Bowl President. “As always, we look forward to providing the city, the country, the conferences, the schools and our fans an offensively exciting game and top-notch events again in 2015.”
GoDaddy, the world’s largest technology provider dedicated to small business, is sponsoring the college football game for a fifth consecutive year.
“We’re ready to kick off our fifth GoDaddy Bowl,” said GoDaddy Chief Marketing Officer Barb Rechterman. “The past match-ups have been fun to watch and all the events leading up to game day make the GoDaddy Bowl more than just a football game. It’s fantastic to be a part of something for the entire Mobile community.”
Some of those memorable events include a parade, street party and fireworks show. The plans for 2015 are in the works with promises to deliver another year of great events.
Last season, despite losing starting quarterback Adam Kennedy to a knee injury in the second quarter, Arkansas State won the GoDaddy Bowl for a second straight season, defeating Ball State 23-30 with a 13-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Fredi Knighten with 32 seconds remaining.
It was the Red Wolves third straight appearance in the bowl. Ball State’s Keith Wenning completed his college football career with 215 yards passing, one touchdown and one interception and was the first Ball State quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards in a season. It was Ball State’s second appearance in Mobile.
