Cheerleading Competition Host Record Crowd

Mobile, Ala. (OCT 4, 2013) – The eighth annual Spectronics Cheerleading Competition presented by the GoDaddy Bowl was held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Mobile Convention Center in front of a record crowd.

The competition hosted squads from junior high and high schools around the region, as well as newcomers from the Mobile Youth Football Conference.

The teams showed their cheerleading skills in front of official UCA judges, as well as celebrity judges Cherish Lombard with Studio 10 and Simone Eli, Fox 10 sports anchor. The categories included junior high, junior varsity and varsity squads for building and non-building, and for the first time included categories for younger groups. At the conclusion of the competition, trophies were presented to the first and second place winners.

New to the competition was Belsaw Middle School and squads from the Mobile Youth Football Conference. This year’s competition reached a new level with several three-peat squad performances.

In the Mobile Youth Football Conference, Eight Mile took home first place trophies in three divisions: Youth Pee Wee – Large, Youth Tinymite – Small and Youth Midget – Large. Saraland took home a first place trophy in the Youth Midget-Small division and second place trophies in the Youth Peanut – Small, Youth Pee-Wee – Large, and Youth Tinymite – Small divisions. West Mobile took home first place trophies in the Youth Peanut – Small and Youth Tinymite – Large divisions.
