GO DADDY BACK IN THE GAME FOR 2012 GODADDY.COM BOWL
Mobile, AL – (July 3, 2011) It’s official. The world’s largest provider of Web hosting, domain name registrations and net new SSL Certificates is sponsoring the GoDaddy.com Bowl for a second consecutive year in 2012.
President Jerry Silverstein announced today the thirteenth annual GoDaddy.com Bowl is set for Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 pm. CST and televised live on ESPN.
The GoDaddy.com Bowl game date is typically publicized in the spring, but was delayed this year due to the ripple effect of “unknowns” caused by ongoing professional football negotiations. “We are excited the GoDaddy.com Bowl will be the last game before the national championship game in 2012. This, along with our dynamic sponsor, gives our bowl game and the City of Mobile sensational national exposure.
We had a very exciting match-up again last year and are looking forward to another great game between the Sun Belt Conference and the Mid-American Conference again this year. Our Bowl Week festivities were also very successful and we are planning more events for the upcoming game,” Silverstein said.
Last year, Go Daddy spokesperson Danica Patrick was the parade’s Grand Marshal. She was also on the field for the pre-game coin toss and what a game it was. The matchup ended with Miami coming back from a previous season of double-digit losses to last year’s double-digit wins and a bowl victory, creating a historic turnaround story.
“We couldn’t have scripted a better story for last year’s GoDaddy.com Bowl,” said Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “We are all about good old-fashioned competition and comradery … and how cool is it to have bowl game named after Go Daddy!”
“The Mid-American Conference looks forward to returning to the GoDaddy.com Bowl,” said Mid-American Conference Commissioner, Dr. Jon Steinbrecher. “Last year’s game witnessed the Miami Redhawks earn a hard-fought victory and completed a historic season for Miami. Our member institutions, their fans and supporters, and most importantly our student-athletes have enjoyed the week of festivities in Mobile associated with the GoDaddy.com Bowl. We greatly value the efforts of the bowl staff and volunteers, and appreciate the tremendous hospitality extended to us by the city of Mobile.”
“We are very excited with our continued relationship with the GoDaddy.com Bowl and we look forward to another exciting game on January 8, 2012,” said Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Wright Waters. “Each year the GoDaddy.com Bowl is a premier sporting event because of the hard work put in by the entire bowl staff. The festivities that the GoDaddy.com Bowl provides and the hospitality of the city of Mobile make this a fantastic experience for our student-athletes and fans.”
