DATE SET FOR 2011 GMAC BOWL

GMAC Bowl President Jerry Silverstein announced today that the twelfth annual GMAC Bowl will be played on Thursday, January 6, 2011. Kickoff will be at 7:00 pm. CST and will be televised live on ESPN.

“We are looking forward to bringing yet another sell-out game to Mobile again this season. The match-up between a Sun Belt Conference team and a Mid-American Conference team promises to be an exciting one,” said Silverstein.

“The Sun Belt Conference is very excited about the first year of our relationship with the GMAC Bowl and the date of the upcoming game will provide a great showcase for our conference and the GMAC Bowl. The GMAC Bowl has proven to be a first-class bowl game and we are looking forward to our partnership,” said Wright Waters, Sun Belt Conference Commissioner.

“We are very excited about our extended relationship with the GMAC Bowl and look forward to January 6, 2011 for another exciting bowl game,” said Mid-American Conference Commissioner, Dr. Jon Steinbrecher. “Last year’s GMAC Bowl was one of the most exciting bowl games in the country, which featured an offensive explosion in Central Michigan’s 44-41 double overtime victory. Over the years, our institutions, and more importantly our student-athletes, have enjoyed the week of GMAC Bowl festivities and hospitality provided by the entire city of Mobile. We certainly value the leadership of Jerry Silverstein and his entire staff and are proud to be a primary member of the GMAC Bowl.”
