DONATION TO ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL MADE DURING HALFTIME AT DOLLAR GENERAL BOWL
Esports Tournament Fundraiser Results in Game-time Donation
MOBILE, AL – December 22, 2018 – Tournament officials from the Dollar General Bowl, along with representatives from the local St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Board gathered for a charitable donation presentation on the field during halftime at the Dollar General Bowl today in Mobile, Alabama.
The check presentation was the culmination of the Dollar General Bowl Week Event, Battle at the Bowl, an online FORTNITE tournament that launched on Saturday, December 8, 2018 and brought gamers and traditional sport enthusiasts together to raise both funds and awareness for local non-profit, USA Women’s and Children’s Hospital and national non-profit, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Thanks to partners including Gamers Outreach, Community Coffee, and J.D. Power Protection Products, Battle at the Bowl was able to reach children and their families around the country.
“Our relationship with the local community is of the utmost importance to us”, said Bill Holcomb, Founder of J.D. Power Protection Products in Niceville, FL, “Having the opportunity to partner with the local hospital and Bowl Game, while also supporting children around the country through the relationship with St. Jude was something we were really proud to get behind”.
The Battle at the Bowl and Dollar General Bowl donated two Go Karts, gaming units that are able to be used in the pediatric hospital at USA Women’s and Children’s Hospital, in addition to the $2,500 donation that took place during today’s game with St. Jude.
