THE LENDINGTREE BOWL GOES BIG FOR TEACHERS THROUGH BIG DAY PROGRAM

Mobile, Ala. (September 14, 2021) – The LendingTree Bowl is joining with the college football family to go BIG to support teachers with the second annual BIG DAY on Tuesday, September 14. Organized by the College Football Playoff (CFP) Foundation, the BIG DAY is a national day of supporting and celebrating teachers, by saying “thank you” in many ways to amazing educators dedicated to helping our kids learn.

The CFP Foundation is focused on reversing a troubling trend toward teacher shortages in classrooms across the country, and honoring teachers for their hard work on the BIG DAY is part of that effort. As pandemic-related challenges mount, teachers have been nothing short of heroic as they’ve worked to educate, protect, and create a sense of normalcy for our children.

The BIG DAY, which is part of Extra Yard for Teachers (EYFT) Week, is the largest single-day effort of community impact by the extended college football family. Close to 600 CFP Foundation partners are scheduled to participate this year (up from 250 last year), including activations in each of the 50 states (up from 26), including more than 300 high schools (up from 73). All 44 bowl games will participate (up from 16), as Bowl Season and the CFP Foundation have joined forces to honor teachers. Universities, conferences, corporate and educational partners will once again join in to celebrate teachers. Last year on the BIG DAY, approximately $4.3 million in grants, direct aid and desperately needed resources were awarded to teachers and educators nationwide.

The CFP Foundation is the largest sports entity in America supporting educators. Its nationwide Extra Yard for Teachers (EYFT) platform has collectively invested over $47 million to support educators. The organization has supported more than 400,000 teachers nationwide in 40,000 schools, creating a positive impact for more than 8 million students.
